Before the flap falls in Brandenburg - concepts for film tourism marketing

The  Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Tourismus Marketing Brandenburg GmbH TMB,  the representation of the State of Brandenburg at the federal government and the Berlin Brandenburg Film Commission BBFC have been inviting representatives of Brandenburg tourism associations and tourist facilities as well as contact persons from districts and municipalities as well as Business funding for the event  "Before the flap falls in Brandenburg".
This involves both the tourist re-use of filming and creating incentives to bring filming to the region.
Using best practice examples, the seminar provides suggestions for action for sustainable cooperation in the film and tourism industry and thus provides important impulses for the business location Brandenburg.

Immerse yourself in very special fantasy worlds or indulge in the historical past - series and films such as 'Pride and Prejudice', 'The Crown', 'Bridgerton' or 'Harry Potter' make this easy thanks to their special filming locations. Some of them were filmed in very special locations, such as parks and gardens or castles and stately homes owned by the National Trust. Harvey Edgington, Senior Filming Locations Manager at the National Trust, gives an exclusive insight into the approval process for filming in these special historic locations and the impact they have on film producers and film tourism.

For the biopic 'Spencer' about Lady Di, three German locations served as an authentic setting for the main motif, Sandringham House. Producer Jonas Dornbach, supervising art director Ralf Schreck and general manager of the Schlosshotel Kronberg Dominik Ritz report, among other things, on the location search, the implementation of the filming and the subsequent use for tourism.

Guests:

Jonas Dornbach - Producer, Komplizen Film GmbH, 'Spencer', 'AEIOU', 'Toni Erdmann' and others.
Harvey Edgington – Senior Filming Locations Manager, National Trust, London (UK)

The fascination and attraction of filming locations for well-known films and series is becoming more and more important for tourism marketing. But production and rental companies can also benefit from this. A central component of the work is good images of the respective productions. How the material of film shoots can be used for film tourism marketing will be shown in the 8th edition of our series of events "Before the flap falls in the film region of Brandenburg".

Representatives from film and series productions, distributors, and broadcasters will discuss the synergies and effects of film tourism together with tourism and marketing experts from Brandenburg districts, municipalities, and local providers. How these look and can be experienced is shown using the example of the Wilder Kaiser tourism association and the production “Der Bergdoktor”. The focus is on the sustainable use of film and photo material, rights clearance for tourism associations and municipalities, among others.

The event series “Before the flap falls in the film region of Brandenburg” is a joint initiative by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and TMB Tourismus-Marketing Brandenburg GmbH.

The initiative FILMLAND BRANDENBURG, run by Medienboard and TMB, is starting the 5th edition of its event series “Before the flap falls in the film region of Brandenburg” with a focus on the city of Potsdam!

Germany's 1st UNESCO Creative City of Film is very popular with film productions - including those from abroad! The world-famous Studio Babelsberg and unique locations such as the Glienicke Bridge, the Dutch Quarter, the castles and parks of the Prussian Palaces & Gardens Foundation or the city's various residential areas offer breathtaking and historical original locations and the best conditions for film shoots.

Experts from film productions and representatives from city administration and tourism will address the following questions in 4 program units:

What creative processes and needs are there for productions looking for a filming location?
How are the logistical approval and communication processes structured from the perspective of the city administration and production before and during the shoot?
How are the film locations in Potsdam used for tourism? What offers are there for film-interested tourists to discover?
How does the title of UNESCO Creative City of Film inspire the sustainable visibility of film in Potsdam?
For interested institutions and Potsdam residents, there will be an exchange in working groups on perspectives from the UNESCO Creative City of Film Potsdam from 4:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
