Filming in forests

Please note

To receive filming permits, the forms must be filled out in German. If you need assistance please find a list of production and location manager in our database.

Basics

Anyone and everyone is allowed to enter the forest for the purpose of recreation. All further activities require the consent of the forest owner. This also includes film and photo work. In Berlin, almost the entire forest is owned by the State of Berlin. In Brandenburg, almost two thirds of the forest area is privately owned, and one third is state and municipal forest.

Berlin

Filming permits for the Berlin forests are issued by the responsible districts or forestry offices.  For approval, information on the scope, locations and time period is required.   If protected areas are affected, other authorities must be involved. General advice on filming or taking photos in the Berlin forests can be obtained from the Berlin State Forestry Office.

Brandenburg

Permission for filming in Brandenburg's forests is granted by the State Forestry Authority in consultation with the respective forestry companies (formerly State Forest District Offices).

The Central State Forestry Authority  Brandenburg can also provide information about the right contact persons for private forests.

To film rare and endangered animal species, permission must be obtained from the species protection authority, Department Ö1, Nature Conservation Division of the Brandenburg State Environment Agency.
